Class of 2026 Families and Students,
Because the forecast for possible severe weather on Monday has remained consistent, Turner High School’s graduation ceremony will now be held on our backup date of Wednesday, May 20.
While it is possible that the Monday forecast could still change, we felt that giving families early notice outweighed the benefit of delaying this decision. At this time, the forecast for Wednesday remains much more favorable for an outdoor ceremony.
All other graduation details remain the same aside from the date.
Thank you for your understanding as we work to provide a safe and memorable celebration for our graduates. We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026!
Congratulations Class of 2026! Below is important information about graduation.
-
Graduation Ceremony — May 18
-
Alternative Graduation Date due to weather — May 20
-
Diplomas will be distributed immediately following the graduation ceremony
SENIORS - Do not bring personal items (bags, purses, etc.) into the school or the DAC on the day of the ceremony. There is nowhere to store them for access after the ceremony. If you bring a bag and leave it in the gymnasium, you will need to pick it up the following week.
PARKING
This is important! There will be limited parking at Turner High School.
The parking lot at Turner High School opens at 5:00. Additionally, shuttle services will run from Turner Middle School and Oak Grove Elementary to the DAC from 5:00 - 7:10 and will run from the DAC back to those buildings after the ceremony.
Seniors need to arrive by 5:00 and will park in the front parking lot. They are encouraged to carpool or be dropped off.
As a reminder, there will be absolutely no parking allowed on 55th Street. KCKPD will be enforcing this.
Security Screening
This year, we will be utilizing OpenGate security metal detector screeners for all guests entering the DAC. These are the same devices that visitors to the high school and middle school have walked through this school year.
When attendees arrive to the DAC, they will walk through these screeners. Any large metal objects being brought into the stadium will need to be passed to a security officer before an individual walks through the screeners. If a screener detects any metal objects still on the individual, they will be asked to step aside and a security officer will check them with a wand detector and manually look through their bag.
Please note that large metal objects include iPads, cameras, stadium chairs, umbrellas, and bells/horns/sound devices (note that these are not allowed in the stadium and will be confiscated).
Photography and Drone Footage
Please note that attendees are not allowed on the field to take pictures during the ceremony. All attendees must stay in the stands for the duration of the ceremony. The district will be getting drone footage during the ceremony - outside drones are not allowed.
Project Grad
Project Grad will run from 10:00 pm - 3:00 am on May 18th. Students must check in by 11:30 p.m., or they will not be allowed inside. This event is for THS graduates only—no guests!
