graduation FAQ

  • Q: Do small children need a ticket?
    • A: Anyone three and over needs a ticket. Those under three should be on the lap of another guest.
  • Q: How many tickets does each student get?
    • A: Each student will have 8 tickets total for the outdoor graduation. Additional tickets may have been earned for seniors through fundraising. TICKETS CANNOT BE SOLD.
  • Q: What if weather does not allow for outdoor ceremony?
    • A: We have identified a backup date of May 20 if there are weather issues for the original graduation date, May 18.
  • Q: How do I order a cap/gown?
    • A: Each graduate should have submitted their height and weight via the survey provided in Schoology. The caps and gowns have already been ordered and every graduate will have one. If you have questions about your cap or gown, please contact Kim Biasella at biasellaa@turnerusd202.org. The cost of the cap/gown is included in senior dues which are charged on the students account
  • Q: Can graduates decorate their cap or gown?
    • A: Caps cannot be decorated -- there is special consideration for Indigenous (Native American)  graduates. Student can wear cords or regalia for groups within THS. They may also apply to wear culturally significant items that are pre-approved by administration.
  • Q: What about parking?
    • A: There will be limited parking at Turner High School. We will also have shuttles from Oak Grove Elementary and Turner Elementary beginning at 4:30; the last shuttle will depart at 6:10. We recommend carpooling and arriving early to allow for transportation delays. The parking lot at the DAC will open at 4:30 and close at 5:30.
  • Q: What is the graduate dress code?
    • A: Business casual with an undecorated cap and gown along with pre-approved regalia. For heels, the spike can be no smaller than the size of a quarter due to the turf on the field.
  • Q: What is the guest dress code?
    • As a reminder, this is a special occasion - please dress accordingly.
  • Q: Can I bring balloons and gifts for my graduate?
    • A: Yes, but please be considerate of those sitting around you so that no one's view is blocked.
  • Q: Where do I meet my graduate after the ceremony?
    • A: Families can meet their graduate at the concourse or on the parking area. Guests will not be allowed onto the field. As a reminder, guests are expected to remain in their seats during the ceremony.
