Congratulations to Lexi Furminger and Lisa Frakes for being named one of thirty-two educators in the state to win the 2023 Kansas Horizon Award!
We are proud to announce that Turner USD 202 has two Kansas Horizon Award winners this year! Congratulations to Lisa Frakes, French Language Teacher at Turner High School, and Lexi Furminger, 2nd Grade Teacher at Oak Grove Elementary. They were surprised on January 3rd, 2023 by a call from Kansas Education Commissioner Dr. Randy Watson.
The Horizon Award program offers Kansas school districts an excellent opportunity to honor exemplary first-year teachers during their second year of teaching. The program, sponsored by the Kansas State Department of Education, recognizes and rewards teachers who have served as outstanding representatives of excellent teaching in the elementary and secondary classrooms of the state during their first year of teaching. Out of the many first year teachers across the state of Kansas, only 32 are chosen each year as Horizon Award winners.
We are very proud of these teachers and are glad they chose USD 202!
