From Dr. Jason Dandoy, Superintendent of Schools, and Steve Russell, Board of Education President.
The below message from Dr. Jason Dandoy, Superintendent of Schools, and Steve Russell, Board of Education President, was published in the spring edition of our Turner Today magazine:
Turner Community,
We hope you have had a great start to the summer! This last year was a wonderful time in our district ending with our amazing seniors who we had the chance to celebrate during graduation last month. These seniors did so much to bring energy and school spirit to Turner High School and will be dearly missed. We are so excited to see their next steps!
Looking to the future - our theme for 2026-2027 is to highlight our new Mission Statement, which was created during Strategic Planning last summer. Our team knows that the ultimate benefit of our work with students is to make Turner a better place to live, work, and learn. We feel that the following language embodies this goal and are excited to spend the year focused on how we can “Educate, Empower, and Impact”.

As we celebrate the past school year, we are always excited to look forward and see “what’s next” for our learners. As a reminder, you are encouraged to check out our quick “quarterly update” videos on Strategic Planning work that guides our daily action. They can be accessed on the district website and are hosted on YouTube. In the next year, you’ll see many of those Strategic Plan goals come to life, including:
- Implementation of new English Language Arts resources in all elementary schools.
- A new student-designed “Food bus” to serve our students and feature our Real World Learning work.
- A brand-new space for the “Golden Bear Café” at Turner High School which is operated by our life skills/adaptive special education program. We will also be releasing a student-created “Golden Bear Blend” coffee that will be packaged and retailed in the coffee show through our collaboration with Broadway Roasting Co.
- Addition of OpenGate metal detection systems at the Sixth Grade Academy.
- Construction of a new weight room at Turner High School.
- Remodeling of a staff childcare based on a sliding price scale for accessibility by all staff members.
- In the back-to-school edition of Turner Today, you’ll have an opportunity to meet some new leaders in our district. These individuals and position changes include:
- Mr. Chad Cross will move into the position of Junction Elementary Principal.
- Dr. Bill Weber will move into the position of Turner High School Principal.
- Mr. John Oshel will move into the position of Turner High School Assistant Principal.
