Meet Our New District Administrators

Congratulations to our three staff members who will be serving in new leadership capacities for the 23 - 24 school year!

Christina Compton, Director of Special Services

Q: What motivated you to become an educator, and what continues to attract you to education as a profession?
A: Since I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. It was a calling that I couldn't ignore. The main thing that keeps me going in this profession for the past 24 years are the students themselves. They are my constant motivation. I firmly believe that being an educator is one of the most important roles in society. Teachers have the incredible power to impact the lives of their students every single day. It's a privilege and a responsibility and there is nothing more real and fulfilling than being an educator.

Q: What interested you in the Director of Special Services role?
A: I saw this role as an opportunity to have a significant impact on the students in Turner at a district level. I am passionate about ensuring that all students, regardless of their circumstances, have access to the best education possible. I will be able to advocate for all students in Turner and support staff across multiple buildings to ensure they have the supports they need. Together, we can create an inclusive and empowering educational experience for all.

Q: What are you most looking forward to in your new role for this upcoming school year?
A: I'm incredibly grateful for the past eight years I've spent building relationships with the Junction Elementary community. Now, in my new role, I have the opportunity to extend those relationships to the entire Turner community.

Leasha Wolterman, Junction Elementary Principal

Q: What motivated you to become an educator, and what continues to attract you to education as a profession?
A: I've always loved learning and teaching. Although our world has changed a lot since I grew up, going to school still means the same thing it did to me as a kid. It's a place where children interact with their peers, try hard things, learn new skills, make friends, expand their thinking, and dream about future careers. I love the challenge of inspiring our younger generation. Every day I get to collaborate with other inspiring educators as we strive to respond to the unique needs of all of our learners.

Q: What interested you in the Junction Elementary Principal role?
A: During my 21 years in USD 202, I've served as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher, 4th/5th instructional coach, and most recently as the assistant principal at Midland Trail Elementary. I love the strong community that surrounds our schools. Each building in this district is unique, and Junction is known as a small, tight-knit community. I love that! A strong partnership between the community and school will greatly benefit our students!

Q: What are you most looking forward to in your new role for this upcoming school year?
A: I am so excited to get to know the students, staff, and community of Junction. Together, we are going to work hard to achieve academic goals set by our district, our staff, and our students. If we work hard, we're going to have to play harder, and that's my favorite part of being an educator! Through fun & games, we'll recognize perseverance while also creating core memories.

A: It was important to me that I make a difference in the lives of others. I love getting to see students succeed and grow in their learning. I feel inspired when I see the positive impact that I have on the students and families that I work with.

Q: What interested you in the MTE Curriculum Administrator role?
A: The staff at MTE works hard each day to build a strong school community where children feel welcomed and supported. I wanted to support their goals and help the school community continually grow and improve.
