Introducing Kim Rowland, who started her Turner Board of Education term at the June 2026 meeting. Learn more about her through the below Q&A.

1. What brought you to Turner, and how long have you lived in the community?

I have been part of the Turner community since I was in 1st grade. I attended Oak Grove, Midland Trail, Turner Middle School, and graduated from Turner High School in 2014. Turner has been home for most of my life, and now I am proud to be raising my own family here. The friendships, memories, and sense of community I found growing up are a big part of who I am today.

2. In your opinion, what makes Turner a great community and place to go to school?

Turner feels like family. It is a community where people genuinely support one another and show up when it matters. Our schools provide students with opportunities to succeed both in the classroom and through athletics, activities, and community involvement. Whether it is cheering on students at a game, supporting local events, or lending a helping hand to a neighbor, Turner is a place where people care about each other.

3. Before becoming a member of the Board of Education, what has been your involvement in USD 202?

I have always tried to stay actively involved in our schools and community. I served on the PTA at Turner Elementary for two years, coached recreation cheerleading for the past four years, coached T-ball last year, and currently coach my son’s coach-pitch baseball team. In March of this year, I became the owner of Christy’s Tasty Queen, and I continue to look for ways to support Turner through school events, football games, Turner Days, and other community activities.

4. Why did you want to be on the Board of Education for Turner School District?

I wanted to serve on the Board because I care deeply about the future of Turner and the opportunities available to our students. I am a parent, business owner, lifelong resident, and Turner graduate, and also have two kids in the Turner schools (Natalee going into 7th and Myles going into 2nd). I understand how important our schools are to the success of our community. I want to be a voice that listens, works collaboratively, and helps make decisions that support students, staff, and families.

5. Anything else you’d like the community to know about you?

I am incredibly grateful for everything Turner has given me throughout my life. I believe in hard work, service, and giving back to the community that helped shape me. Whether through volunteering, coaching, supporting local programs, or operating a local business, I am committed to helping Turner continue to grow and thrive for future generations.
