Canvas Parent Access
Canvas is a user friendly learning management system (LMS). Canvas has an environment and ability to easily connect instructors, students, and now parents both in and out of the classroom. Canvas includes basic LMS functionality for managing enrollments, sharing documents, submitting assignments, and assigning grades, as well as personalized features for individual students. While Turner has been using Canvas for three years, Canvas has now become the official grade book for your secondary student.
There are two ways to sign up as an observer to monitor you student's Canvas activity. One way is via the Turner Canvas website and the other way is by downloading the Canvas Parent App.
Please be aware that the website and App do not communicate with each other. Therefore, if you want to monitor your student using both methods you will need to create two accounts; one from the Turner Canvas website and one from the App.
The Canvas Parent App is for both iOS and Android devices. Search "Canvas Parent" in the corresponding store of your device. Once downloaded, please view the Canvas App Guides below to learn how the app works. If you've already created an observer account via the Turner Canvas website, you can use the same credentials to create an account with the App.
Please note that before you can connect as an observer to your students' Canvas account, you need to know their Canvas login credentials. Students in our district use their student number (long number) for their username and their lunch pin (short number) for their password. Students login to Canvas daily, so please ask them for this information.
