Seminar period meets every Tuesday and Thursday for 45 minutes. Seminar period is structured time during the school week for students to pursue various activities related to academic and personal growth. It is designed to:
Provide students with test taking skills
Develop effective time management and study habits
Increase accessibility to teachers and resources during the school day
Prepare students for assessments Provide time for clubs/activities to meet.
Tuesday Skill Seminar period uses:
Develop test-taking strategies.
Work on transitional programs.
Prepare for state-assessments.
Mentoring
Prepare for the ACT/SAT Exams.
Complete skill-building activities.
Thursday Travel seminar period uses:
It is crucial that teachers only allow students who have a ZAP stamp to exit seminar. Teachers, please remember to write the time next to the ZAP before student departs.

Student's responsibilities:
Students may travel only if they have a pre-arranged ZAP stamp from their teacher.
Travel only to teachers who have zapped their planner on the appropriate date.
All students will return to seminar five minutes before the end of the hour. (See attendance policy.)
Adhere to the Turner High School attendance/tardy policy
Students will have four minutes to travel from their seminar to the location of the club meeting/class.
Bring sufficient work/supplies needed to complete during seminar time. (Students may not go to their lockers during seminar.)
Planners must be visible at all times during travel. Students may not travel without their planner.
Use time in a constructive and productive manner
No loitering in the halls or restrooms.
Make up missing work/tests
Seminar will count as 1/4 elective credit each semester towards graduation. Students will earn credit by completing skill-building assignments and earning participation points using seminar appropriately on travel days. Points will not be awarded unless students follow procedures.
